By means of the decree, the Apostolic Penitentiary “confirms and extends for the entire month of November 2021 all the spiritual benefits already granted on 22 October 2020” – that is, it allows the faithful to gain plenary indulgences for the souls in purgatory by visiting a cemetery on every day in November and praying for those who have died; normally, the indulgence is limited to the first eight days of the month. A second plenary indulgence is also established for the day of the commemoration of the faithful departed, All Souls’ Day, November 2. The current decree allows the faithful to obtain that indulgence for the benefit of the deceased on any day of November, at their choice.

The Church celebrated the great feast of Pentecost on Sunday. On that day the Holy Spirit ascended onto the apostles in the form of tongues of fire. The apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and from that time went out to proclaim the great works of God to the world. Mary, the mother of God, was in the room with the apostles and the Holy Spirit descended on her also. At that moment she, also, was confirmed.

On Sunday eleven children were confirmed at the Sacred Heart Church in Penicuik, an apt and fitting day for such a great occasion. They were confirmed during a mass in which Archbishop Leo Cushley was the main celebrant and Father Tadeusz Majcher  was the concelebrant. Before the children were confirmed the Archbishop reminded them that the sacrament of confirmation could only be received once in a lifetime. He also talked to them about the confirmation names they had chosen.

After mass a reception was held in which light refreshments and soft drinks were enjoyed by those who attended.
