By means of the decree, the Apostolic Penitentiary “confirms and extends for the entire month of November 2021 all the spiritual benefits already granted on 22 October 2020” – that is, it allows the faithful to gain plenary indulgences for the souls in purgatory by visiting a cemetery on every day in November and praying for those who have died; normally, the indulgence is limited to the first eight days of the month. A second plenary indulgence is also established for the day of the commemoration of the faithful departed, All Souls’ Day, November 2. The current decree allows the faithful to obtain that indulgence for the benefit of the deceased on any day of November, at their choice.

ROYOLTY joined the congregation at Sacred Heart Church, Penicuik, for Sunday Mass recently.

Members of the parish were delighted when the Earl and Countess of Wessex joined them for the morning service conducted by Fr John McInnes.

"It was great fun" said Fr McInnes who added that Prince Edward and his wife Sophie were present for the children's liturgy.

The couple were in Scotland for the christening, performed the day before by Fr McInnes, of Lord and Lady Dalmeny's  youngest child, Caspian Albert Harry Primrose, at Rosebery Chaepl. Sophie Wessex is the child's godmother.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Keith O'Brien was at Sacred Heart Church last night (Wednesday) to conduct the confirmation service for P4 pupils from Sacred Heart.
