The month of September is traditionally dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows.**** Most holy Virgin and Mother, whose soul was pierced by a sword of sorrow in the Passion of thy divine Son, and who in His glorious Resurrection wast filled with never-ending joy at His triumph; obtain for us who call upon thee, so to be partakers in the adversities of Holy Church and the sorrows of the Sovereign Pontiff, as to be found worthy to rejoice with them in the consolation for which we pray, in the charity and peace of the same Christ our Lord. Amen. ********* Seven Sorrows of Mary: • The Prophecy of Simeon. • The Flight into Egypt. • The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem. • Mary's meeting Jesus on the Via Dolorosa (not found in the New Testament) • The Crucifixion of Jesus on Mount Calvary. • Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross. • The Burial of Jesus by Joseph of Arimathea. ***** Our Lady of Sorrows, Pray for us!

Becoming Catholic

RCIA  -  Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

We welcome anyone thinking of joining our Catholic faith and we invite anyone who has not yet been baptized to participate in our RCIA programme. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a journey of faith during which the participants seek a conversion of heart and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The journey is open to adults from many different backgrounds:

  • those never baptized
  • those baptized in another Christian faith who want to learn more about the Catholic Faith
  • those Catholics who have not received the other Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist & Confirmation).

This is a gradual process and takes places within the community of the faithful. Those who journey in the RCIA process will receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.

Those who were baptized in other Christian faith traditions, or who were baptized Catholic, and are seeking the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, we invite you to participate in our Sacrament Preparation Programme for Adults.

RCIA sessions begin in September of each year and run through the Easter season.  After an inquiry period of 6-8 weeks, participants then decide if they wish to continue on their journey to come into full communion in the Catholic Church.

For information on either of these programs please contact Margaret Drummond at 01968 674046.

We look forward to welcoming you as fully initiated members of our Catholic Faith.
